According to Linda Flower, a publisher on what it means to be a critical thinker, writer, and reader, creative reading is properly defined as: "Instead of remembering all the details, readers do something much more creative — they draw inferences as they read and use the writer's ideas to form their own concepts. In other words, readers remember not what we tell them, but what they tell themselves." (Flower, 1993)

By combining play-based learning with multi-sensory best practices in literacy (from NC State's Wolfpack Readers), while also utilizing the Orton-Gillingham approach with commonly used curricula like Letterland, Fundations, Wilson Reading System, and Abeka Reading, my goal is to give your child a vocabulary rich literacy learning experience. The overall aim is to make learning to read feel as fun, effortless, and as exciting as possible, while also capitalizing on their strengths as a reader. Because at the end of the day, the more a child wants to learn the more successful and confident they become.
Teaching is my calling and creative critical thinking is my passion in life! And to see the two come together, even in the smallest of ways, simply makes my day!!
