Greetings,
The Creative Reader K-12 Literacy is open!!!
My name is Laura Anderson; I am a medical mama of two boys. My oldest son has left sided hemiparesis (think cerebral palsy on the entire left half of his body). He is still learning to walk, talk, and function alongside his peers; he gets all the rehabilitation therapies (SP, OT, PT). I live in Wendell/Archers Lodge area and work out of home in the mornings, since both of my boys are currently enrolled in 5 days a week PreK. My oldest, Christopher, is five; and our younger son, Daniel, just turned three in May.
I received my Masters of Education in Reading K-12 in 2019 from North Carolina State University! And got my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winthrop University in 2009. I am a certified and experienced elementary school teacher and have been working with and teaching across multiple grade levels for the last ten plus years.
One of my favorite teaching experiences was teaching third grade in Mexico from 2011-2013. I came back to the states in June 2013 and ended up starting my career in literacy intervention. I worked with grades 1-5 with Richland 2 School District in Columbia, South Carolina and grades kindergarten through third grade with Wake County Public School System; before finally getting my masters of education in 2019.
As a teacher, my philosophy of education is work hard, play hard. Learning should feel as fun and effortless as possible; because at the end of the day that's what makes kids WANT to learn. And the more a child learns, the more independent they become. That's the goal isn't it?
I look forward to working with you,
Laura E. Anderson
